MLZ&WAF is a collaboration project bridging Italian and Austrian art-scenes
MLZ&WAF is a project by MLZ Art Dep gallery (Trieste-Milano, IT), and Wiener Art Foundation (Vienna, AT) , both sharing a common focus on emerging artists and contemporary production. The collaboration, rooted in the bond of cultural affinity and in the shared past uniting Trieste and Vienna, aims to create a reference point for the contact between the Italian and Austrian artistic circuits.
The two realities share space in an at-floor-apartment reflecting the common cultural tradition in via Roma 15 Trieste, IT - to create a hybrid platform for the presentation and fruition of art. The venue merges gallery, institutional space, and artistic residency program, to become a place of meeting and cultural exchange, hosting a joint program.
The project also includes exhibitions and events held at the Wiener Art Foundation Kunstverein in Schadekgasse 6 / 9, Vienna, AT and other locations.
MLZ Art Dep
MLZ Art Dep is a gallery based in Trieste, IT since 2014.
Thanks to its pivotal work on proposing contemporary photography and critical imaged-based practices, it has taken part of renowed international venues, including Paris Photo (Paris, FR), Artissima (Torino, IT), Unseen (Amsterdam, NL), Artefiera (Bologna IT).
Thanks to awards won by the gallery and its artists, it has collaborated with public institutions in Italy like MADRE Museum (Naples) and FMAV (Modena, upcoming this fall).
